Identifying the Causes of Vaginal Itching
Vaginal itching may be caused by a number of circumstances. If you are experiencing constant itching, this may be brought about by any or a combination of the following circumstances:

1. Vaginal infection, also known as vaginitis - condition is marked by inflammation, discharge, odor, and continuous irritation. Try to read on the three most prevalent vaginitis conditions to help yourself understand and find the cure appropriate for you.

2. Vaginal yeast infection - generally triggered by the intake of antibiotics, birth control medications and use of condoms. This condition may also appear during menstruation, when pregnant, or when engaging in regular sexual intercourse. One who has diabetes or has a deteriorating immune system is also susceptible to this infection.
3. Menopause - the reduced estrogen in the vagina triggers itchiness.

4. Reaction to chemicals - common irritants include feminine perfume sprays, fabric softeners, laundry detergents, creams, douches, ointments as well as jellies or foams used for contraception.

5. Stress - may aggravate the itchiness and makes the person suffering vulnerable to infection.

6. Presence of pinworms - normally affects children.

7. Precancerous skin disorders

8. Wearing clothes that are simply too tight fitting - warmth and moisture provide the perfect conditions for bacteria to incubate inside your body.

In order to identify which of the causes is the root of your vaginal itching, diagnostic tests are often needed to be conducted on the person. These tests include vaginal culture, biopsies, or Pap smear.

Cure for Vaginal Itch
As in any possible disease or illness, prevention is the best cure. Even if you are already experiencing this condition, the following measures are recommended.

  • Resist from scratching yourself so as not to worsen the condition. Avoid activities that will make you sweat so much and bring too much heat to your body.
  • When taking a bath or shower, it is best to use white or plain, unscented soap. Perfumed soaps are bound to harm sensitive skin like that in the vagina and vulva area. Your genitals and the surrounding areas must always be kept sanitary and dry. After urinating or bowel movement, make sure to wash yourself clean.
  • Use plain, unscented toilet paper and tissues when applying in your genital area.
  • Avoid bubble baths, douches and feminine perfumes.
  • Do not stay in wet clothing too long. Change into dry clothes as soon as possible to avoid the occurrence of infection.
  • Yogurt should form part of your dietary allowance. If you are diabetic, control your blood sugar level. Try to maintain your ideal weight.
  • Practice safe sex. Use condoms, if you have to engage in such activity.
