Vaginal irration and itching

The vagina is one of the organs of the female reproductive system. With the secretions of its vestibular glands, and the presence of bacteria and other organism in the vaginal area, many women suffer from vaginal irritation and itching.



Symptoms of vaginal irritation

Many women who have different chemical allergies suffer from vaginal irritation. The different possible chemical allergies a woman may suffer from are hygiene product allergy, soap allergy, douche or dye allergy, some allergies to perfumes and latex allergy from some latex condom.

Then there are also numerous drugs, toxins, substances and medications that may induce vaginal itching. This is why it is necessary to inform your physician of the medications you are on, when seeking treatment for vaginal itching.

It is possible to treat yourself for your vaginal irritation through non prescription drugs. Make sure you use sanitary napkins, and not tampons when on nonprescription drugs as tampons can absorb the nonprescription drug. Make it a point to drink acidophilus milk or yoghurt on a regular basis as its lactobacillus culture prevents vaginal yeast infections. Don’t wash the vaginal area excessively as it induces vaginal irritation. When having vaginal irritation, it is better to use some water soluble lubricating jelly when during intercourse to reduce irritation. The genital area may become swollen or painful with vaginal irritation. You can solve this by sitting in warm water in a bathtub.

However, if all this does not work, it is better to approach a physician as your vaginal irritation may be due to some other infections like STD and bacterial vaginitis. This calls for different types of treatment. And if pregnant, it is very important to report any vaginal irritation to the doctor as some forms of vaginal infections prove to be fatal to the fetus.
