Genital wart Cancer risk

For most people, genital wart is not life threatening. It is more like a bother than serious disease. They simply hope the wart disappear as time go by and don’t seek treatment. However, wart on woman’s cervix can be cause abnormal cells to grow.

Genital can lead to Pap smear in the opening to the womb, which become cancerous if left untreated. Woman who is infected by genital wart should have a pap smear test every three to six months. You might cut down the frequency of visit if you have positive result in three tests in a row. Even HPV infection doesn’t always lead to cancer, a pap test can lead to timely treatment if it unfortunately happened.

If you have sex in early age (18 or less) and/or have multiple sex partner, the risk of having cervical cancer increase. If you or your partner had history of HPV infection, you are in higher risk, too. However, use of oral contraceptive, multiple pregnancies and uncircumcised male partner are not risk factor.
